Remember when Quentin Tarantino was writing Inglorious Bastards and he wanted to cast such action heavyweights as Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone? Well, that didn’t pan out, but it looks like Sly is planning his own bloody action flick with the help of two other action stars.
Stallone will be writing, directing and starring in The Expendables for Nu Image/Millennium Films, the same production company that funded Stallone’s Rambo earlier this year.
While the ink hasn’t dried on the contracts, I can tell you that joining Stallone will be Jason Statham, and, once final negotiations are met, Jet Li.
The Expendables follows a team of mercenaries on a mission to overthrow a South American dictator. Filming begins this February in Costa Rica and Louisiana.
All kinds of awesomeness, this news here. Now throw in any combination of the following and you have the ultimate “sorry-honey-but-I-ain’t-watching-no-chick-flick-tonight” movie:
David Carradine, Keith Carradine, Josh Brolin, Powers Boothe, Bill Paxton, Mickey Rourke, Jeff Fahey, Brian Bosworth, Terry Crews, Robert Forster, Roddy Piper, Clancy Brown, Rutger Hauer, Michael Biehn, Mr. T
and lest I forget Chuck Norris
