Twentieth Century Fox has acquired screen rights to Adena Halpern’s novel The Ten Best Days of My Life and will develop it as a star vehicle for Amy Adams and potential directing vehicle for Shawn Levy.
Adams will play a woman who dies and goes to heaven but is in danger of being demoted to a lower level of paradise unless she can prove herself by recounting her 10 best days. The novel was published by Penguin last May.
Adams will make her debut as a producer on the project alongside Levy and his 21 Laps banner. Tom McNulty of 21 Laps will also be involved in a producing capacity.
Deal reunites Adams and Levy: The thesp plays Amelia Earhart in the director’s Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, which Fox has set for Memorial Day release next year.
“I’ve known Adena for over a decade, and there is Amy, reading her book on set,” Levy said. “I told her I knew the writer, she said she was loving the book, and I asked her if we should try to do this together.
“There is a father-daughter dynamic at the heart of the character’s redemption, and as the father of three girls, that resonated strongly for me.”
