MAIN CARD (PPV)

Fedor Emelianenko vs. Andrei Arlovski

Round One: No stare down. Fedor looks down while the Referee talks. Arlovski throws lead leg kick. Fighters exchange with good strikes. Another inside leg kick by Andrei and then another. Fedor agaisnt Arlovski on the ropes. Andrei is counter striking well. Fighters end up in the corner and action slows. Referee breaks it up and its back in the center of the ring. Arlovski with another leg kick. Fedor seems a bit flustered by Arlovski’s speed and is losing the stand up battle. Arlovski charges and lands punches and a big push kick to push Fedor against the ropes.  He comes after Fedor with a flying knee and…Oh my God! Fedor lands a looping punch that doesn’t seem to land hard but Arlovski drops like a man shot with a gun and looks nearly unconscious. Upon review, Fedor hits Arlovski right on the button.  Fedor by KO from seemingly nowhere. Fedor remains the WAMMA Heavyweight champion.

Josh Barnett vs. Gilbert Yvel

Round One: Fighters engage in great stare down. Fighters circle. Barnett throws leather first and misses. Yvel lands good leg kick. Barnett takes leg and gets his takedown. Barnett is in Yvel’s half guard and landing hammer fists. Barnett staying busy and looking for full guard. Barnett attempts Kimura but Yvel escapes. Barnett goes for another submission and has it almost locked. Yvel escapes. Big right hand by Barnett. Barnett gets side guard and then loses it. Yvel doing good job staying alive. Barnett goes for another Kimura. Barnett in full mount and landing elbows. Yvel gives up his back and Barnett is reigning down strikes. How is Yvel surviving?! Yvel escapes, gets to his feat as the round ends and the crowd erupts with applause.  Barnett dominates the first round, 10-8

Round Two: Fighters end up in clinch and Barnett takes Yvel back to the ground. Barnett is in Yvel’s side side guard.  Yvel is back in the danger zone just like that. The pace has slowed considerably as both fighters are tired. Barnett sits in half guard and lazily looks for a arm bar. Referee tells fighters to work. Barnett gets in full mount again. Yvel is using his hips to try and throw Barnett off. Yvel fights back from his fight. Barnett has great position but he doesn’t have the energy to fully attack.  Barnett lands occasional elbows but nothing too bad. Yvel lands strikes from the bottom but he is losing the exchange overall. Barnett goes for armbar and Yvel pulls the switch and is standing up. Yvel lands a good shot to a grounded Barnett as the round ends. Barnett did enough to win the round, 10-9.

Round Three: Yvel lands solid shots to start round. Barnett gets another takedown. Yvel is helpless to defend agaisnt the takedown. Barnett is back in full mount and lands occasional hammer fists. The pace has slowed considerably as the fans start to boo. Barnett’s shots are getting through now and Yvel taps out due to strikes. He was taking too much punishment. Barnett by TKO. A good win for Barnett.

Vitor Belfort vs. Matt Lindland

Round One:Fighters circle. Belfort lands vicious left hook to chin. Linland falls to the ground and Belfort follows him. Belfort lands huge strikes to his grounded opponent and Linland is knocked out cold! Linland doesn’t know where he is and doctors examine him. What a huge win for Belfort.  Belfort by big T(KO) in 37 seconds. Medical staff want to put a neck brace on Linland. After the initial scare, Linland tells them he is fine and walks out under his own strength.

Renato “Babalu” Sobral vs. Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou

Round One: Fighters circle each other. Early exchange of punches. Sobral goes for a takedown and Sok stuffs its. Fighters clinch agaisnt rope. Sobral pulls guard and goes for submission but Sokoudjou gets the fight standing again. Fighters are in a body lock stalemate. Referee breaks them up. Fighters trade kicks and Sobral goes for takedown. Sokoudjou gives up his back but falls through the ropes. Referee breaks them up and  puts them back in position. Sokoudjou falls into Sobral’s guard. Sokoudjou looking to land strikes in Sobral’s active guard. Fight back to its feet in a scramble. Sobral pushes fight to corner of the ring and is looking for takedown. They stalemate in the corner and action slows. Sobral sneaks in knees before referee breaks it up. Fight returns to center of the ring. Push kick by Sobral. Round ends. Very close round to score. Announcer gives slight edge to Sokoudjou. Sokoudjou 10-9

Round Two: Right uppercut by Sokoudjou lands. Fighters circle. Sobral lands combo. Sobral takes Sokoudjou to ground and lands ground and pound in his guard. Lands some nice elbows. Sobral landing punches. Sokoudjou is not working from his back. Referee does a center ring restart to get fight away from ropes. Sobral pulls off step overs half guard.  Sobral works his way into position and transitions to a D’Arce to set up an anaconda choke! Sobral by submission. Great win for Sobral.

Paul Buentello vs. Kiril Sidelnikov

Round One: Fights size each other up.  Buentello lands early. Both fighters are throwing bombs. Buentello lands a stiff jab. Fighters are up agaisnt the ropes dirty boxing. Both fighters land. Back in the middle of the ring. Good exchange for both fighters. Fight is back agaisnt the corner with Buentello clinching. Sidelnikov lands lead kick. Sidelnikov has swelling from Buentello’s jab. Fighters are banging. Buentello is landing knees into mid section of Sidelnikov from clinch. Round ends. Buentello wins a great round of action, 10-9.

Round Two: Sidelnikov falls from Buentello checkin his kick but gets back up. Buentello lands stiff jab. Both fighters exchange from center of ring. Sidelnikov lands kick and Buentello answers with jab. Sidelnikov lands big shot and chases Buentello into corner. Buentello recovers and fighters clinch. The pace slows. Buentello lands great combination, leading with his right. Buentello lands a vicious left hook. Sidelnikov is tough as nails. Buentello is landing with ease. Sidelnikov is getting busted up under his left eye. Buentello wins the second round with superior striking. Buentello 10-9

Round Three: Round starts with fighters exchanging. Buentello starting to pick apart his opponent’s face with stiff lead jabs. Big uppercut by Buentello! Sidelnikov recovers with body kick. Buentello’s jab can’t miss. Sidelnikov still in fight but losing on points. Big jab by Buentello. Sidelnikov falls to his feet and the referee takes him to his corner to put mouth piece back in. Fight resumes with more jabs from Buentello. Sidelnikov has his hands way down.  Referee stops fight again because Sidelnikov “spits out” his mouthpiece. Ref stops fight, he didn’t like the damage Sidelnikov was taking to his left eye. Buentello wins the fight by TKO stoppage. Big win for Buentello over Fedor’s protege.

Bobby Green vs. Dan Lauzon.

Round One: Fighters rush out and touch gloves. Big swing by Green. Green lands a solid left. Green loses a  standing guillotine attempt.  Both fighters clinch. Wild swings by Green. Green hits Lauzon in groin with hard kick. The referee gives Lauzon time to recover. Lauzon takes all 5 minutes to recover while crowd boos. Lauzon clearly wants to catch his breath.  Action resumes. Lauzon pulls Green into his guard. Action goes to the mat. Green gets up and slams Lauzon. Lauzon almost gets Green in triangle choke but Green escapes. Fight back to its feet. Another low blow by Green. Referee gives Green his last warning. Lauzon is taking all the time he needs to recover.  Fight resumes. Fights trade wild punches that dont land. Green clinches. Are you kidding me…Green hits Lauzon with a third groin shot and the referee is forced to deduct a point. They ask Lauzon if he wants to continue fighting and he says “Yes.” Two points are ultimately deducted. Round continues. Green takes Lauzon down and gets his into his guard and lands strikes while Lauzon goes for a heal hook. Fights scramble on the mat. Lauzon ends up taking Green’s back and is working to sink in a rear naked choke. Green taps…Lauzon wins by submission! What a wild round of fighting.

Jay Hieron vs. Jason High: Fight was postponed due to lack of time.  Hopefully this fight will be part of the main card.
