Digital TV Switch Delayed Until June 12

News

The switch from analog to digital TV probably won’t happen until the middle of the year following a Senate vote to delay the changeover.

The Senate voted unanimously Monday to push the switch from Feb. 17 to June 12. A House committee will hear a separate bill on delaying the transition on Tuesday; the Obama administration is also backing a delay in the transition.

Estimates from Nielsen say that about 6.5 million households that receive over-the-air signals still aren’t ready to make the switch. People who have older TVs and don’t have cable or satellite service will need converter boxes to receive digital signals.

More information on the delay can be found in the Chicago Tribune.

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
