Neil Jordan digs Neil Gaiman's Graveyard Book

Neil Jordan, the acclaimed director behind such films as The Crying Game, Interview With The Vampire, Michael Collins and Breakfast On Pluto, will write and direct the feature adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s “The Graveyard Book,” the young adult novel.

Winner of the the Newbery Award, “The Graveyard Book” is the story of an orphan raised by ghosts in a cemetery. Gaiman announced Jordan’s involvement while on The Today Show, where he was promoting the release of Focus Features’ stop motion animated feature Coraline, which was brought to life by director Henry Selick (The Nightmare Before Christmas) and also adapted from Gaiman’s work.

Gaiman will produce The Graveyard Book, which will be shot as a live-action feature. London-based f/x production house Framestore will work on the effects.

Jordan is currently in post production on his film Ondine starring Colin Farrell and Jordan staple Stephen Rea.
