Alexander Off UFC 98 Card

News

It figures that the one UFC card I’d be attending on vacation instead of business would be one of the most injury-ridden cards in history. UFC 98 already lost potential fights with Frank Mir, Josh Koscheck, Yushin Okami and James Irvin, and now Houston Alexander can be added to that list.

Alexander suffered a broken hand in training and was forced to pull out of his fight with Andre Gusmao. Pulling out of the fight was a good decision on Alexander’s part, because Houston was likely in a must-win situation and he was in the cage yet again with another good submission specialist. Come to think of it, I’m not certain why the company keeps putting him with submission specialists.

No replacement opponent has been named for Gusmao, but I’m told that it’s coming within the next 48 hours.
