Ray Mercer Knocks Out Tim Sylvia

News

Former heavyweight boxing champion Ray Mercer knocked out former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia at Adrenaline MMA 3 “Bragging Rights” on Saturday night in Birmingham, AL. The bout lasted all of nine seconds as the 48-year-old Mercer dropped Sylvia, 33, with an overhand right in response to a leg kick from Sylvia. The bout was originally scheduled to be a 6-round boxing match but was changed to a mixed-martial-arts contest a week before the fight. Mercer landed two more shots to Sylvia as he was down before the referee was able to stop the fight.

Mercer won the heavyweight title in 1991 and also an Olympic Gold Medal in 1988.

Tim Sylvia has now lost three fights in a row but this particular loss is very concerning. Sylvia’s chin strikes again.
