Haye Sets Sights On Vitali Klitschko

News

After pulling out of a June 20th date with Wladimir Klitschko due to a back injury, David Haye will now step in the ring with Wladimir’s older brother Vitali. The fight will take place in Germany on September 12 and will be broadcast on HBO. Vitali will defend his WBC heavyweight title against the Brit that recently moved up from the cruiserweight division.

David Haye had choice words for both of the Klitschkos when hyping his bout with Wladimir. Most people saw the matchup with Wladimir as a risky proposition for Haye and Vitali may be an even worse matchup for The Hayemaker. Vitali has a stronger chin than Wladimir, a weakness Haye was hoping to exploit in Wladimir.

Regardless of the matchup, this will be a fight littered with personal animosity. At the very least it will inject some excitement into the heavyweight division. That has been a long time coming.
