After being dropped in the 2nd round by Manny Pacquiao last May, the future of Ricky Hatton was in jeopardy. While not officially announcing whether he will fight again or not, Ricky Hatton is leaving the door open. When asked about the possibility of facing fellow Brit Amir Khan by The Sun, Hatton had this to say:
“If I do decide to make a comeback and Khan is still world champion, then obviously it is a possibility.
“But with the greatest of respect, it would only be if I promoted it.
“If I choose to fight again and he’s still up there — which I certainly hope he is — then it’s a possibility.”
The prospects of this fight happening don’t sound good. I understand Hatton’s desire to promote this fight, but I doubt Frank Warren, Amir Khan’s promoter and former Hatton promoter, will be cool with it. At least it shows that Hatton hasn’t completely checked out from boxing again. But very few lucrative fights are out there for Ricky Hatton.
