Welcome to the EC-Dub!

Well, I’m excited about Summerslam coming up.  It’s probably my least favorite of the big four PPVs, but it’s one of the big four nonetheless.  I’m also very excited to see Christian vs. William Regal at said event.  Tonight, we’ll settle for a tag team match featuring Christian and Tommy Dreamer vs. Regal and Vladimir Kozlov.  Ezekiel Jackson is bound to be involved.  On with the show!

Your hosts are Josh Matthews and Matt Striker from Kansas City.

We start out with a video package introducing… Hurricane!  Looks like he’ll be fighting Burchill.

Hurricane vs. Paul Burchill (w/ Katie Lea)

The bell rings and they lock up.  Armdrag from Hurricane who poses as a superhero.  Another armdrag from Hurricane.  Burchill powers Hurricane to the corner and hammers on him.  Hurricane fights his way out of the corner and goes on the offensive.  After a takedown, he gets Burchill in a headlock.  Whip to the ropes and Hurricane stops himself and poses again.  Burchill is infuriated by the superhero tactics.  He rushes Hurricane and Hurricane pulls down the ropes so Burchill hits the floor outside.  Hurricane to the top and hits the cross body on the outside.  We go to…

We’re back and Burchill has grounded Hurricane.  During the break, Burchill made Hurricane fall off the top ropes to gain the upperhand.  He has Hurricane in a headlock but Hurricane is fighting out.  He gets clotheslined, though, and covered for two.  Burchill with a modified cobra clutch.  Burchill throws Hurricane shoulder first into the corner and then hits the flying double knee.  Cover for two.  Another cover for one.  Burchill with clubbing blows.  Hurricane is powered to the corner again.  Burchill lifts him to the top turnbuckle and goes for the superplex.  Hurricane headbutts him off and flies off the top rope with the cross body. Hurricane goes on the offensive and throws Burchill into the corner and hits a clothesline off the ropes.  Cover for two.  Nice Barry Allen Flash reference from Striker.  Hurricane gets reversed into the corner and gets hit with the knees and Burchill covers for two.  Burchill goes to the top turnbuckle and Hurricane hits the Hurricarana.  Burchill back up and dodges the kick from Hurricane.  Burchill goes for a suplex but Hurricane reverses and hits the Eye of the Hurricane for the three count.

Winner: Hurricane Matt Striker calls him the Iron Man with the Power Fist.  Awesome.

Good match to start with.  Hurricane had a little rust but still looked good.

Courtney Taylor is in the back interviewing Tommy Dreamer.  Dreamer says he is still friends with Christian even after their Extreme Rules match.  He then tells Courtney to leave as Regal comes in.  He is checking out Dreamer’s arm to make sure it is alright.  Kozlov nails Dreamer from behind and holds Dreamer as Regal hits the Randy Orton-like knee to the head.  Looks like Dreamer might night compete tonight.

Commercial break.

We’re back and Dreamer is being attended to by the training staff.  Christian is there and Dreamer is having a hard time getting up.

Abraham Washington heads out to headline his Show.  Washington grabs the mic and gets booed as usual.  He welcomes everyone to the Abraham Washington Show.  I still love the Applause sign.  Washington says he is hearing boos and cheers.  He thinks the crowd either can’t see or can’t read the Applause sign.  He says we’re 6 days from Summerslam (aren’t we 5 days away).  He welcomes his bizarre guest, Goldust.

Goldust shakes Washington’s hand and Washington tries to wipe it off.  He says Goldust is one of the strangest people he’s ever seen.  He’s a walking, talking Academy Award.  Ha!  Goldust agrees he’s a little different.  Washington brings up Shaemus and Goldust ticks trying to explain.  Washington says they’re more like convulsions.  Goldust grabs some water and ticks some more.  Washington is looking for Ashton Kutcher because he thinks he’s being punked.  Goldust explains he was electrocuted 6 years ago and that’s why he acts like that.  Washington says the meds he’s taking aren’t working.  He must be taking a placebo, which is apparently like a gazebo.  That was possibly the worst joke I’ve ever heard and it insults my intelligence.  Sheamus is introduced and heads out.  Goldust and Sheamus stare each other down.  Sheamus tells Goldust that he got lucky last week.  Sheamus calls him a gold freak and they stare each other down for an eternity until Goldust gets another tick.  Washington tries to stop the awkwardness and ends the show.  Sheamus and Goldust continue to stare each other down.

Courtney is in the back again this time with Tiffany.  Tiffany says Dreamer has a concussion and can’t compete tonight.  Christian needs to find a new partner for the main event.

We’re back and here comes Zack Ryder.  Yoshi Tatsu follows.  This should be an interesting match.

Zack Ryder vs. Yoshi Tatsu

They lock up and Tatsu gets sent to the ropes and he avoids the clothesline and armdrags Ryder down.  Ryder to the corner but Yoshi runs into the boots.  Ryder goes to the top rope but gets brought down by Yoshi.  Ryder is on the apron and pulls Yoshi’s arm over the top rope as he falls to the floor.  Back in the ring and Ryder goes to work on the injured arm.  Yoshi counters and gets an armbar of his own.  Both back up and Yoshi gets a few kicks on Ryder while selling the injured arm well.  Cover by Yoshi for two.  Yoshi goes for his finishing kick but Ryder counters and goes for the Zack Attack but gets countered.  Yoshi gets some kicks in and goes to the apron.  He goes for a springboard elbow drop but lands on the upraised knees of Ryder.  Ryder covers for the win.

Winner: Zack Ryder  Postmatch, Ryder grabs the mic and says “WooWooWoo.  You know it”.  It was a match that never really seemed to get going.  With more time it could have been good.

We’re back and we recap Raw.  Legacy might have beat up DX last night, but it’ll still be a squash match at Summerslam.  Unfortunately.

Christian is talking to Tiffany and he says he can take on both Regal and Kozlov by himself.  Tiffany says she can’t let him go out there without a partner.  We hear some knocking and Christian looks off screen and says “that’ll work”.  Must be Jackson.

William Regal heads down to the ring and his partner Vladimir Kozlov follows.  Here comes Captain Charisma.  We’ll find out who his partner is after..

Commercial break.

We’re back and here comes Ezekiel Jackson.

Christian and Ezekiel Jackson vs. William Regal and Vladimir Kozlov

The bell rings and Christian and Regal will start things out.  They lock up and Regal gets and armbar.  Regal sucks chant.  Christian reverses and Regal counters back.  Good chain wrestling that ends with Christian going to the top and hitting the uppercut off the ropes.  Regal kicks Christian in the midsection and tags in Kozlov.  Christian gets some offense in on Kozlov but Kozlov counters and gets Christian in a rack.  Kozlov misses Christian on a ruch and goes over the top rope.  Regal distracts Christian and Kozlov hits him from behind.  He tags in Regal and Regal is in control.  Tag to Kozlov.  Kozlov shoulder blocks Christian in the corner.  Front face lock from Kozlov.  Chinlock from Kozlov.  He powers Christian to the corner and tags in Regal.  Regal with some offense but Christian backslides him into a cover for two.  Regal sends Christian to the corner but runs into the boots.  Springboard sunset flip from Christian.  Cover is broken up by Kozlov.  Jackson chases him out of the ring but then hits his version of the Iron Curtain on Christian.  He gestures to Regal to cover him, which he does for the win.

Winners:  William Regal and Vladimir Kozlov, with an assist from Ezekiel Jackson

Postmatch, Kozlov and Jackson trade Iron Curtains on Christian.  Regal, Kozlov and Jackson celebrate in the ring to close the show.

Overall, a pretty good show.  The Abraham Washington Show was awful, but we had three decent to good matches and no squashes.  See you next week, kids.
