Pacquiao-Clottey Headed To Dallas

News

Manny Pacquiao and Joshua Clottey will be fighting on March 13 at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, TX. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was a bidder for the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight but when that fight couldn’t make it out of negotiations, Jones landed the fight between Pacquiao and Clottey.

“I have wanted to bring a major boxing event to North Texas for many years, so why not bring in the biggest and the best?” asked Jones. “Manny Pacquiao is boxing’s No. 1 pound for pound attraction and the world champion. Manny defending his title against Joshua Clottey is not just a great fight, it’s a great event, and one we can showcase to the fullest in Cowboys Stadium. We’re going to promote this like it was the Super Bowl.”

Pacquiao enters this fight with a record of 50-3-2 (38 KOs) while Clottey comes in at 35-3 (20 KOs). Pacquiao’s WBO Welterweight title will be on the line. The fight can be seen on pay-per-view. Antonio Margarito is rumored to make his return to the boxing ring on the undercard. Margarito is currently under suspension for illegal hand wraps from his last fight with Shane Mosley in January of 2009.
