Victor Ortiz Wins In Ten

News

Victor Ortiz stopped Hector Alatorre in the tenth round, giving Ortiz his second win after suffering an upset loss to Marcos Maidana. Ortiz dropped Alatorre in the final stanza and even though he beat the count, Alatorre was saved from any further damage by the referee.

Speed and stamina proved to be the difference for the younger Ortiz. Alatorre wore down as the rounds went by. Ortiz landed some hard shots in the seventh and eighth before eventually closing the show in the tenth.

Ortiz moved to 26-2-1 (21 KOs) with the win and became the first person to stop Alatorre. Ortiz is tentatively scheduled to face Nate Campbell on May 15 in a light welterweight battle. The fight is rumored to be a part of the Amir Khan vs. Paulie Malignaggi card at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
