Disc News: WrestleMania XXVI Release to Include Five HOF Matches

Disc Announcements, News

You could make the argument that World Wrestling Entertainment hasn’t made their DVD releases enticing enough for those looking for features beyond that of a wrestling pay-per-view. Think about it – what was the last significant special feature you found as an extra for a WWE PPV release on DVD? It seems that WrestleMania is the event in which WWE tries to give its fans their monies worth.

On May 4th, World Wrestling Entertainment will release WrestleMania XXVI in three different versions. The two-disc release will include the entire ten match card, the 2010 Hall of Fame Ceremony, and six bonus matches – the 26 Man Battle Royal that preceded the PPV telecast and five matches with particular interest to five of the HOF inductees. Those matches are:

Mad Dog Vachon vs. Rick McGraw
Primetime Wrestling January 1, 1985

WWE Women’s Championship
Wendi Richter vs. Fabulous Moolah
Madison Square Garden July 23, 1984

Japanese Heavyweight Championship
Antonio Inoki vs. The Great Hossein
Madison Square Garden December 17, 1979

Gorgeous George vs. Frankie Talliber
AWA 1951

Ted DiBiase vs. Jake “The Snake” Roberts
WrestleMania 6 April 1, 1990

For the three-disc Collector’s Edition release, a 3rd bonus disc includes both the Raw and SmackDown shows from the week before WrestleMania XXVI allowing viewers to see how events unfold leading up to the Pay Per View.

The event will also be released on Blu-ray, though it will be exclusive to Best Buy for a few months, just like the release of Royal Rumble 2010 in March.

Travis Leamons is one of the Inside Pulse Originals and currently holds the position of Managing Editor at Inside Pulse Movies. He's told that the position is his until he's dead or if "The Boss" can find somebody better. I expect the best and I give the best. Here's the beer. Here's the entertainment. Now have fun. That's an order!
