Joe Lauzon And Terry Etim To Meet At UFC 118

News

Joe Lauzon and Terry Etim are very close to having an official match at UFC 118 in Boston this coming August. Lauzon and Etim have verbally agreed to the fight, and one of the fighters has already signed a contract. Only the second signature is needed to make the bout official.

Lauzon (18-5) is coming off a loss to Sam Stout in January at UFC 108. Despite the unanimous decision defeat, Lauzon was awarded the Fight of the Night. It was the second time in his UFC career that Lauzon won that award. The first came in another defeat, this time at the hands of Kenny Florian at UFC Fight Night 13 in April 2008.

Prior to his loss to Stout, Lauzon had won eight of his previous nine fights, including a knockout victory over MMA legend, Jens Pulver.

Etim (14-3) also lost his most recent fight when Rafael dos Anjos submitted him with an armbar at UFC 112 in April. Prior to the loss, Etim won four straight fights, and he won two Submission of the Night awards against Shannon Gugerty and Justin Buchholz.

Fights currently slated for UFC 118 in Boston have UFC Lightweight champion Frankie Edgar defending his belt against BJ Penn, lightweight contenders Kenny Florian and Gray Maynard squaring off, and UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture will fight former boxing champion James “Lights Out” Toney, who will be making his MMA debut.
