Desperate Housewives – Episode 6-22 Review

Top Story

Welcome fans! The countdown is almost over! This is the 22nd episode of the sixth season of Desperate Housewives which means that we are just a breath away from the season finale!

Spoiler-free zone:

Since this is an episode before the season’s final episode, all the storylines end big. The mystery (or should I say “mysteries”) is reaching its end and thus we were given many cliff-hangers (that hopefully will be answered in the next episode). Especially towards the second half of the episode, things get intense!

Spoiler zone:

In Susan’s story, we see that her finances aren’t going as planned. When Mike tells her that he did some free plumbing jobs for some clients, Susan decides to take matters into her own hands and go and get the money that the clients owe to Mike. She initially plays the “victim” card, but that fails miserably. She later realised that all she needed was a little blackmail and bullying to get what she wanted. Unfortunately, this technique didn’t work when she tried to convince the IRS to extend the bill payment. In the end, Susan realises that her only way out is renting her house. The other three housewives tried to lend her money, but Susan didn’t let them. I think that the possibility of Susan moving out is quite possible. It can be her storyline for next season and it will also give an empty house for the possible new mystery to enter. Congrats to Teri Hatcher for her comedic performance in this episode.

In Bree’s storyline, the new addition to the Van de Kamp family brings back some trouble from the past. Bree’s fear of Sam began to grow, so she decided to bribe him so he can leave the business. When he abruptly refuses, Bree calls some “detectives/friends” of hers so they can scare Sam off. However, her plan backfired when Sam blackmailed her. Turns out that when Danielle visited Bree a few episodes ago (to meet Sam), she had a little too much to drink and told her about Andrew’s little hit and run. In case you forgot, Andrew (back in the first half of season 1) had run over Carlos’ mom, and Bree and Rex, hid the car and any other evidence. I love it when we revisit old storylines. Curious to see what happens next!

Gaby’s storyline was merged with Angie’s story this week. Angie is now living with Patrick who forced her to make an explosive device for his eco-terrorist work. Sadly for Patrick, Gaby keeps ringing the door bell to ask Angie about her lasagne that she wants to make for Carlos. When Gaby makes some lasagne she takes them over to Angie to try them. Angie goes to the kitchen to cut a piece while Patrick stays with Gaby, who keeps showing him pictures of her modelling days. Angie manages to stick a note in the lasagne and gives them back to Gaby. Meanwhile, Patrick has already texted Danny to come back home, and when he does, he holds him hostage as well. Furthermore, during night time, Gaby finds Juanita and Celia eating the lasagne, and she then sees Celia spitting the note out of her mouth. The note said something like “Danny and I held hostage-no cops-get Nick”.

Last but not least, Lynette’s storyline was the last cliff-hanger of the episode. Irina was found dead and when the cops informed the Scavos, Eddie decided to move out. Furthermore, when Lynette was at the police station (where they were investigating Parker for Irina) she overheard two cops talking about Eddie’s mom dying. Lynette, thinking that she was murdered by someone other than Eddie, goes to deliver the bad news to Eddie’s house. Eddie realises that he is so close to being caught by the cops, that he keeps Lynette hostage. The episode ends there. While I doubt it that the writers will kill off Lynette, it still makes sense why Eddie wouldn’t just kill her. I mean, so far he hasn’t targeted someone that was nice to him. I think he will try to find a solution that will have both him and Lynette unharmed. Let’s get prepared for the finale now!

To conclude, the build up is over people! One week left, yet so many things still lie ahead. Excited? I know I am!
