There is a potential movie based on the life and times of Bruno Sammartino in the works, courtesy of producer Scott Rosenfelt (Home Alone, Mystic Pizza). Sammartino has been approached about similar projects in the past but has pulled out when producers have attempted to fictionalise certain events for a better ‘Hollywood’ effect, feeling that if his real story is not deemed good enough then he does not want to bother. One of the key beats to the story is Sammartino nearly dying on a mountain when he was sick and his family were fleeing from the Nazis. His mother had to go down the mountain in the middle of the night to try and fetch food for them. Sammartino said that they wanted a supermodel actress to play his mother, which he found to be ridiculous. Rosenfelt is planning on writing an accurate screenplay when he is done with his current project.
