IGN is reporting that John Schneider is returning to the show during season 10 to reprise his role as Jonathan Kent. He’ll be in the season premier, an episode named “Lazarus”, and is expected to appear in at least one more episode aside from it.
Those who watch Smallville know by now that Pa Kent died in the fifth season, so his return is a bit of a puzzle. Though the word “Lazarus” invokes thoughts of Ra’s Al Ghul and his pits that have granted him near immortality, which have been proven to revive the dead. Of course, Ra’s is a Batman villain, and there is no Batman in Smallville.
Then again, it wouldn’t be the first odd DC occurrence in a show that has already featured Green Arrow, Cyborg, Kid Flash, The Martian Manhunter, Aquaman, Black Canary, the JSA, and Checkmate.
And that’s sad too, since I don’t even watch Smallville!
