NFL News: Houston Texans Running Back Ben Tate Out For The Season

He had been the projected starter in the Texans Backfield, but that position is wide open now.

Tate will have surgery on Tuesday or Wednesday to fix an injury that coach Gary Kubiak called, “pretty severe.” Tate is expected to be placed on the IR after the surgery.

Tate was injured in the third quarter, after carrying the ball only two times for 7 yards. Arian Foster and Steve Slaton will carry the bulk of the rushing load for the Texans this season.

Tate was the Texans second round draft pick this year.
