David Haye breaks media silence, reports that deal with Audley Harrison nearly signed

News

David Haye has broken his long media silence, releasing a video on twitter and youtube where he explains his recent media silence, insists that the failure to make a Haye-Klitschko was not his fault and says that he will next fight in either October or November. He also promises a major announcement in the next few days.

This would add weight to reports in The Daily Telegraph that a deal has almost been completed for David Haye to defend his WBA Heavyweight Title against Olympic Super-Heavyweight Gold Medallist Audley Harrison, with an announcement expected in two weeks. For a taster of how the fight will be promoted, sample this paragraph from their correspondent Gareth A. Davies:

“The two fighters were once been close friends in the England amateur boxing team, and have sparred dozens of rounds with each other in training. Yet last year, they fell out publicly with a war of words, Harrison claiming Haye had turned his back on an old friend. On Nov 13, they can sort it out face-to-face.”

Davies goes onto to say that the fight is planned to be shown on pay per view by Sky Sports, as part of a double-header with Manny Pacquiao vs Antonio Margarito.
