The young phenom is likely done for at least this year and most of next year.

The Washington Nationals had Strasburg sent for a second MRI and on Friday they announced that the MRI showed a significant tear. Strasburg will get a second opinion but it is likely Strasburg will undergo ligament replacement surgery and be out 12 to 18 months.

“As you can imagine, he was initially upset,” Nats GM Mike Rizzo said, “but he has really turned himself from being upset to being focused on his rehabilitation. He’s determined to get the surgery done and begin the process of rehabilitation.”
