Alistair Overeem to face Ben Edwards in K-1 World Grand Prix Final 16

Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion Alistair Overeem will face Ben Edwards in the Final 16 of the K-1 World Grand Prix on October 2nd. With his K-1 committments Overeem will not fight in Strikeforce again this year.

The troubled promotion has also announced Jerome Le Banner vs Keijiro “Kyotaro” Maeda for the Final 16 event in Seoul, South Korea. Other fighters to be involved are Semmy Schilt, Badr Hari, Errol Zimmermann, Ewerton Teixeira, Ruslan Karaev and Freddy Kemayo. The remaining sports will be determined by a fan online poll, with former UFC Heavyweight Champion Andre Arlovski in the running. They will all be fighting to progress to the tournament finals that take place in Yokohama, Japan on December 11th.
