WWE Working On Another Top 50 DVD Release

Disc Announcements, News

Over at WWEDVDNews.com the site has slowly been revealing titles (average of 2 or 3 a week) that could make their way to retailers in 2011. This is a schedule obtained from WWE so it is authentic, but some titles may be dropped as far as scheduling of DVD and Blu-ray releases go.

The latest reveals include another Top 50 countdown that is bound to have WWE fans arguing as well as the second release in its Raw season series.

The 50 Biggest Matches in WWE History is currently planned for the end of 2011 and its format should be similar to the Top 50 Superstars of All Time set, with the 50-1 countdown on the first disc and two discs of bonus matches.

Considering how asinine the rankings for the Superstars set was I definitely expect controversy with this release, should it surface. Rankings I’m not really concerned about at this point. What I am concerned about is that it will omit matches like the WWE Championship match at Royal Rumble 2003 because it has you know who in it.

Raw: The Best of Seasons 3 & 4 shows that the Best of Seasons 1 & 2 was successful enough to warrant another installment. Moving into 1995 and 1996, this period of Raw saw the birth of the “Monday Night Wars” with rival WCW and its program Nitro. It should also be noted that WWE is planning a Best of WCW Nitro: Seasons 1 & 2 (1995/1996), also to be released in 2011.
