It was back in early October when we told you that Tom Hanks was considering a role in a new film by Kathryn Bigelow. It now looks like Hanks is confirmed to star.
In a recent interview with Comingsoon.net producer Charles Roven revealed as much.
“Tom Hanks is starring in the film,” Roven said, “and we’re still looking to cast the other roles. We’re hoping to start shooting the movie sometime in mid-March.”
Also, rumors had Triple Frontier titled as Sleeping Dogs, but there’s no confirmation from Rosen about a title change.
The picture will be a multi-layered ensemble piece like Steven Soderbergh’s Traffic, though Hanks is the only named actor at this point. Johnny Depp was close to joining the film, but will be working on Dark Shadows with Tim Burton instead.
Triple Frontier is a crime drama set in the notorious border zone between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil where the Igazu and Parana rivers converge — making “la triple frontera” difficult to monitor and a haven for organized crime.
