UFC Looking To Make Japan Return In 2011

News

UFC Asia Executive Vice President and Managing Director Mark Fischer yesterday signalled a renewed push from the UFC to break the difficult Japanese fight market, a scene that has been in deep depression since the fall of Pride FC in 2007. Not only was he able to announce deals that will see UFC events broadcast on smart phones and the internet in Japan but he said that the UFC hopes to run an event in Japan towards the end of the year. While its surprising to hear the UFC talk about returning to Japan given the bad blood that still exists over their failed attempt to revive Pride FC it is in line with a recruitment policy that has seen them sign Yoshihiro Akiyama, Kid Yamamoto and Michihiro Omigawa .
