Craig Gillespie Circling Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

News, Projects

Let’s play “Who Wants to Be…the director of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies?” Recently, Mike White (School of Rock, Orange County) had to drop out because of a scheduling conflict. Prior to him David O. Russell was going to direct from his own adapted screenplay. But supposedly the script is so good, that it has had a number of directors circling the project.

Craig Gillespie is reported to be the frontrunner for the project (as of this minute). If selected, he would be going from a tale about the vampire next door (Fright Night) to adapting Seth Grahame-Smith’s best-selling mashup novel combining Jane Austen’s literary classic with elements of zombie fiction.

No actors have been cast, but Natalie Portman was originally slated to play Elizabeth Bennett. Like Mike White, she also has scheduling conflicts that prevent her from doing the film.
