Strikeforce in Early Discussions for Fedor Emelianenko vs. Dan Henderson

News, Top Story

After his recent defeat of Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante, newly crowned Strikeforce Light Heavyweight champion Dan Henderson is rumored to be in negotiations for one of the highest profile fights of his career against Fedor Emelianenko.

Henderson, speaking to MMAJunkie, said “Obviously, he’s still one of the top guys out there in the world, and it would be a huge challenge… It would interest me to go up.

The fight could happen at heavyweight, however, according to the Russian’s camp, Fedor is seriously considering a drop to the light heavyweight division to go after that belt instead.

Scott Coker has indicated that there have been “preliminary discussions” regarding the proposed bout.

Should Strikeforce get this bout locked up, this will surely be the largest profile bout between two “name” fighters in their brief history.
