Comic book fanboys may be feeling green with delight, not envy, with Green Lantern‘s four minutes of footage from WorldCon, but let’s not forget about DC Comics’ heavy hitter – the man that carries a big “S” on his chest. Superman: Man of Steel won’t arrive in theaters until December 2012, but people are curious about what direction Zack Snyder with take with the Superman mythos, and they want to know who’s going to play Superman’s earthbound mother and father, etcetera.
Part of that etcetera could entail the type of training regimen star Henry Cavill will have. We all remember how Christian Bale went from his emaciated body frame in The Machinist to packing on the pounds for Batman Begins. For Cavill, his strength training should be just as laborious as it was for Tarsem Singh‘s The Immortals.
He’s also doing “plenty of comic book research,” in preparation – going through multiple story arcs in getting an overall sense of Superman and his alter ego Clark Kent with each passing decade.
Like he told MTV News at WonderCon, “it’s just picking up a general idea of who he is and working from there.”
With the recent news that Amy Adams had joined the cast to play Lois Lane, Cavill couldn’t be happier. He sat in and auditioned with a number of different candidates for Lois, including Adams. She’s a “fantastic actress,” he said, adding that he is looking forward to working with her.
