Remember Nate Grey? Telepathic shaman of the 21st century? Most powerful mutant on Earth? Of course you do! He came back from an extended period of being dead during Paul Cornell’s brilliant Dark X-Men mini, and has been waiting in limbo ever since. Until now, that is! The New Mutants new job is cleaning up unfinished business, starting with Nate Grey.
We see Nate in Manhattan as he tries to figue a way off of this world, as it no longer agrees with him. He is quickly assaulted in an apartment by The Thing and Iron Man, with Spider-Woman and Valkyrie quickly joining in. Nate escapes only to be greeted by…Thor? This isn’t right! This isn’t right at all! Nate has saved the world! He’s a good guy! Why would the Avengers possibly be going after him?
Because they aren’t. Because Nate never escaped from Norman Osborn’s H.A.M.M.E.R. facility, and now he’s the prisoner of one of his worst enemies.
Ladies and gentlemen….the Sugar Man has returned.
