Dana White’s Punishment: Nick Diaz to Face BJ Penn at UFC 137

News

Well, if there was any question as to how Dana White was going to punish Nick Diaz for no showing consecutive UFC 137 press conferences and forcing him to re-work the main event, we know it now.

Diaz, the former Strikeforce welterweight champion, was pulled from the main event of his UFC 137 fight with Georges St. Pierre after a bizarre series of events. In fact, some people were calling for him to lose his job, but Dana White has given Nick another chance as he will now face former UFC Lightweight and Welterweight champion BJ Penn.

Dana White made the announcement via Twitter Thursday evening.

Penn’s original opponent, Carlos Condit, took Diaz’ spot in the main event, leaving the Hawaiian without a fight until today.

UFC 137 takes place October 29th, 2011 from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
