– This is the least exciting relaunch week for me so far. I always like Legion, Green Lantern Corps should continue to be great, and DC Universe Presents is one of the books I am most looking forward to, but I feel pretty blah about most of the books coming out.
– New Teen Titans Games is one of the most inspired ideas I have ever heard of. Kind of amusing since it’s quite possible this story might not even fit in the current DC timeline.
– That Hal Vs Sinestro statue is really cool looking.
– One book I am really looking forward to is this week’s Young Justice #8. It seems to tell more of Artemis’s story, and explains what she was doing during “Schooled.”

Grey Commentary – Avengers is yet another Fear Itself tie in issue, this time apparently with Hawkeye and Spider-Woman hooking up. So if you like those characters, it’ll probably be the majority of the issue!
– Children’s Crusade continues to squeak out under the radar with people like me who forget that it’s not over yet. If these delays are intentional then Marvel needs to rethink their scheduling, and if they’re not then they should take a good hard look at DC’s attempt at keeping books on time. Seriously, issue seven of nine and I feel like it’s been going on for well over a year already. I almost don’t care if Scarlet Witch stays back or if mutants get brought back. I just want it over.
– Captain America has been interesting, as Steve has been feeling like a superhero in his own title for the first time in years. Big props to Steve McNiven, as this book has been gorgeous and apparently on time.
– Daredevil? Didn’t I just buy a new issue last week? Great book, but this is four issues in like, two months. Marvel doesn’t need to flood the market with books like this, as X-Force has been getting similar wallet busting treatment.
– Generation Hope has been one of the better X titles this year, in large part due to writer Kieron Gillen. Last months issue made us care more about Idie and what happened in Schism than anything that happened in Schism, and I really can’t wait for this issue.
– I loved Iron Man before Fear Itself, but now he’s going on like, four issues of being drunk. And he’s the fun drunk that really enjoys it despite telling himself it’s wrong. To be honest, Fear Itself has turned this book from something I saw as must read to something that might be dropped from my list as early as this week.
– Thunderbolts could use the point one issue, as it isn’t a very accessible title and is going through a status quo shift.
– Ultimate Comics X-Men by Nick Spencer should be interesting, as someone finally tries to do what Loeb utterly failed at two years ago and follow up on the status quo he created.
– Uncanny X-Men is Juggernaut with a hammer vs Colossus as the new Juggernaut. Greg Land is tracing it, sure, but Kieron Gillen is writing and it has all the makings of a good old fashioned slobberknocker.
– X-Factor is a phenomenal book that it seems like nobody reads. Peter David has gone uninterrupted for years now, and it looks like Schism is just going to give him two more characters to play with in forms of Havok and Polaris.
– Schism should be so much better than it is, but Jason Aaron has failed to create decent villains in his new kiddie Hellfire Club, and the split between Wolverine and Cyclops is unbelievably forced. The end result will be really interesting, and I can’t wait for it, but the road to getting there has been paved with half thought out ideas and crap.
Skitch Commentary: Gees, Grey decided to make me look bad this week. I will just add the Ruse trade to the list of books to check out this week. I thought the mini was perfect. Real shame that I can’t read it on my tablet…more on that tomorrow in my digital release column.
