Canadian pop-punk superstar Avril Lavigne has now joined Epic Records, which reunites her with the same man who began her career, the label’s chairman LA Reid.
Reid – who is also responsible for skyrocketing the careers of Mariah Carey, Pink, OutKast and Justin Bieber, to name a few – originally signed Lavigne in 2000 to the now-defunct Arista Records, which was closed along with J and Jive Records back in September.
Epic Records is a new label for the star but she’s still under the Sony Music umbrella, which includes Columbia Records, RCA (which Lavigne just left), Epic and the new anticipated label Kemosabe Records, which is spearheaded by mega pop producer Dr. Luke.
The Dr. Luke collaboration could revitalize the Canadian’s career. He isn’t able to assist Katy Perry because of her signing with Capitol Records and helped Lavigne by producing six songs on her 2007 “Best Damn Thing” album.
