Holy Crap! Now I’ve seen everything!
Drafthouse Films and Image Entertainment will be releasing Y.K. Kim and Park Woo-sang’s Miami Connection (1987) on Blu-ray December 11th. The film stars Y.K. Kim, Vincent Hirsch and Joseph Diamand. Technical specs and supplemental features have not yet been announced, though Amazon is currently taking pre-orders.
I’d love to paraphrase, but this description says it so perfectly:
“The year is 1987. Motorcycle ninjas tighten their grip on Florida’s narcotics trade, viciously annihilating anyone who dares move in on their turf. Multi-national martial arts rock band Dragon Sound have had enough, and embark on a roundhouse wreck-wave of crime-crushing justice. When not chasing beach bunnies or performing their hit song “Against the Ninja,” Mark (kung-fu master/inspirational speaker Y.K. Kim) and the boys are kicking and chopping at the drug world’s smelliest underbelly. It’ll take every ounce of their blood and courage, but Dragon Sound can’t stop until they’ve completely destroyed the dealers, the drunk bikers, the kill-crazy ninjas, the middle-aged thugs, the “stupid cocaine”…and the entire Miami Connection!”
I saw this film last year when I was on a kick of watching a ton of really bad movies. And this was one of the most memorable. This film definitely falls into the “so bad, it’s good” category. Cheesy music. Bad acting. Ridiculous plot and characters. It all adds up to one amazingly bad and thoroughly entertaining film. The fact that it’s getting a Blu-ray release makes me laugh out loud… and get my checkbook ready.
