Alberto Del Rio Talks Face Turn and Jack Swagger / Zeb Colter with FOX News Latino

News

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio spoke with FOX News Latino about the Jack Swagger / Zeb Colter storyline and going into WrestleMania 29 as a baby face. Below are some excerpts:

Alberto Del Rio on being a face vs. being a heel: “I was having a blast being the bad guy of the movie, but I’m also having fun being the baby face, the good guy … There’s a certain joy to being the bad guy … Sometimes they hate you, sometimes they love you.”

Ricardo Rodriguez then tries to sell Del Rio’s oft-questioned face turn, saying, “At this point in time [the fans] prefer us being a good guy.”

Del Rio then says he wants to make Mexico and fans around the world feel proud, and that while Jack Swagger has his freedom of speech, on “Sunday I’ll be able to do something about it.”

Interestingly enough, here’s what FOX News Latino said about Jack Swagger and Zeb Colter’s Tea Party characters:

“Swagger, who in the past has had trouble connecting with fans, has been branded as a Tea Party/anti-immigrant stereotype with a firebrand manager named Zeb Colter speaking for him and on behalf of “other Americans” who think undocumented immigrants are hurting the country.

The Zeb Colter/Tea Party story line has been criticized by some conservatives, most notably by Glenn Beck, who as a response was confronted by a WWE announcer in his Dallas studio.”
