Recent WWE United States Champion Kofi Kingston will undergo surgery to repair an elbow injury that will keep him out of action for at least four to eight weeks.
Storyline-wise, WWE is using an attack by Ryback on Kingston that will air this Friday on SmackDown as the reason why Kingston will be out of action. This explains why Kingston received his US title rematch against Dean Ambrose on Raw instead of the Payback PPV.
