Matt Brown Pulls Out Of UFC on Fox 9 Fight Against Carlos Condit, Who’s All Class Afterwards

News

The gods of combat sports violence giveth … and they taketh away. After five rounds of carnage between Mark Hunt and Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva in Australia on Friday, the fight most fans were looking forward to was Carlos Condit vs. Matt Brown. Both fighters are known for bringing wild, entertaining brawls to the masses and a rumor popped up late Friday that the fight was off.

Brown confirmed it with a Tweet on Saturday.

No word yet has been given on Brown’s down time or Condit’s next fight, rumored to be on UFC 170. Word hasn’t been given on which undercard fight will be promoted to the main card in the meantime. Condit released a statement about the fight cancellation as well.

“I was greatly disappointed to hear of Matt Brown’s injury. This was a fight that I was looking forward to immensely, and I know it was a fight the fans have been excited to see. When the fight does happen, I promise that the wait will be worth it.

Right now I’m going to spend time with my family over the holidays, and hope that Matt heals up quickly so that we can reschedule this fight soon.

Thanks to all of the fans out there for their support.”
