As 2013 draws to a close, the UFC heads into 2014 with several fight cards over the first few months, and those cards are beginning to fill as those events draw near. UFC 170, taking place on Feb. 22 from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, has had two fights added to the card.
One will be a battle of contenders in the UFC Women’s Bantamweight division as Alexis Davis (15-5, 2-0 UFC) will square off against Jessica Eye (11-1, 1-0 UFC), and bantamweight men will meet as Bryan Caraway (18-6, 3-1 UFC) takes on Lucas Martins (14-1, 2-1 UFC). UFC officials announced the bouts on Monday.
UFC 170 will be headlined by UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey defending the title against former Olympian Sara McMann.
Davis and Eye come into their bout riding impressive winning streaks. Davis has won four straight fights and seven of her last eight overall while Eye is on an eight-fight winning streak and has just one loss in her career. Davis has won two fights in the UFC, scoring decision wins over Rosi Sexton at UFC 131 in June and Liz Carmouche at UFC Fight For The Troops 3 in November. Eye has fought once in the Octagon as she scored a decision win over Sarah Kaufman at UFC 166 in October. The winner of the bout between Davis and Eye could find themselves next in line for a title shot.
Caraway is looking for back-to-back wins after getting back into the win column with a submission win over Johnny Bedford at UFC 159 in April. Caraway has won three of his four fights in the UFC as he has also scored submission wins over Dustin Neace and Mitch Gagnon. Martins has won two straight fights. He scored a knockout win over Jeremy Larsen at UFC On FX 8 in May, and a submission win over Junior Hernandez in his bantamweight debut at UFC Fight Night 28 in September.
