CM Punk Says WWE’s Non-Compete Clauses Prevent Him & Alberto Del Rio From Joining UFC

News

In a recent appearance on the “Art of Wrestling” podcast, CM Punk discussed the possibilities of him competing under the UFC banner and says that it is unlikely because of a specific clause that was placed in his termination contract with WWE.

“Just like UFC is not WWE’s competition, but you can’t go work there for a year after they fire you on your wedding day,” Punk said.

The former wrestler said that the same clause was added to Alberto Del Rio’s contract preventing the former MMA fighter from returning to the UFC now that he is finished with World Wrestling Entertainment.

Punk also made it clear that he would never return to WWE or professional wrestling.

“He was distancing himself from such a horrible, barbaric product,” Punk said. “I reminded him how horrible and barbaric pro wrestling is.”
