The origins of Mongul, his mysterious champions, and Midnighter’s underground rebellion stand revealed! When another of Superman’s truest allies is killed, will the tragic loss end the rebellion before it begins? Or will it be the spark that finally unites Superman’s forces against the unstoppable Mongul? The Warworld Revolution begins!

Also featuring the finale to the epic Martian Manhunter backup series!

We open up on Earth with a brief explanation of the orphan Kryptonians as Lois Lane and son Jon Kent pine for their husband and father Clark Kent who…

…as Superman is having a rough go on Warworld without his powers.

Even with Midnighter by his side, OMAC fights for Mongul to be reunited with her Flash Lia Nelson.

Mongul enters the fray as…

…Superman’s revolution angers Warworld’s despot.

Back on Earth, Lois Lane visits John Henry Irons aka Steel and…

…they actual hear Superman’s challenge to Mongul?!

Then the misplaced Martian Manhunter story…

…finally comes to an unsatisfying end for him, the Court of Vultures and for readers.

The back-up story seems to tease a new-old line of work for the Martian Manhunter’s alter ego.

The Pulse:

The main story remains engaging, but not very humanizing or making Superman more accessible or relatable to readers. Intrigue and action in equal measure and all rendered beautifully. The back-up was, as I have said before, an ill fit for this series at this time. The art was so-so as was the story. I’ll refrain from rating it and just keep the book’s rating to the main story. 7.5 out of 10.
