DVD Review – 9-1-1 (Season 1)

DVD Reviews, Reviews, Top Story

Most procedurals focus on police for a reason; you can find a familiar story telling manner and just keep repeating it, changing out actors over the years, if you can build an audience. All the variations of Law & Order have a familiarity to them because they follow the same basic structure over the years. Now you can add in 9-1-1 as another in what should be a large franchise of television shows.

Simple premise: we experience a day in the life of all facets of first responders, from paramedics to firefighters and the dispatch people who help coordinate this.

It’s a revolving cast of characters as we get different stories involving the worst days of people’s lives and the people tasked with responding to them. A good way to look at the show is a more urgently paced Law & Order. We have an ensemble cast and follow them in slow burn throughout, following how their personal lives change as well as their professional ones.

Nothing of significance.
