TFcon DC 2019 News Round-Up

Live Coverage, News, Official Images, Top Story

Hellllo Primates!

This is an article to examine how sad I am that I wasn’t in DC this weekend…and to talk toys. Lots and lots of toys.

I’m always a bit sad to watch from the digital sidelines as a convention happens. Gone are the days of traveling cross country to every Botcon from CA to NC. I may try to finagle a trip to the next TFcon since it isn’t coming back to the west coast in the spring…but more on that later.

The two biggest things to come out of TFcon are typically the exclusives and the Third Party reveal panel. Let’s start with the exclusives:

The custom class figure this year was a…yellow Ratchet.

TFcon announcement! In cooperation with TFcon DC 2019 sponsor Ages Three and Up we are proud to present the 2019 Custom Paint Class figure. This years custom class uses the Voodoo Robots Salus figure to create COMBAT MEDIC. All supplies needed to paint and customize this figure are provided by Ages Three and Up. This class is sold out.

I’m honestly not 100% sure what the homage was for the yellow ratchet, but I believe it was in the vein of movie ratchet.

Mastermind Creations (MMC) brings us two new figures that pull on the IDW and Prime heartstrings: Ultio (not Senator Ratbat) and Bedrock (not Bulkhead).

Senator Ratbat, at your service! TFcon sponsor Ages Three and Up is proud to announce this year’s 3rd TFcon DC 2019 exclusive Mastermind Creations Reformatted R41 Ultio. Something sinister is in the air and it’s headed straight for TFcon 2019. Featuring a brilliant purple color scheme, this figure is a striking addition to your collection. Get your copy at the Ages 3 and Up/Toy Dojo booth this weekend at TFcon Reston. Available in limited quantities, the cost of this exclusive will be $100 USD while supplies last.

Ultio is based on the IDW Megatron Origins appearance of Ratbat before he was regulated to a tape and such.

Senator Ratbat did see a TakaraTomy release when they remolded a CHUG Scourge figure. I couldn’t bring myself ot bust him open, so I’m looking forward to busting open Ultio.

TFcon sponsor Ages Three and Up is proud to announce this year’s 4th TFcon DC 2019 exclusive Mastermind Creations Reformatted R37 Bedrock. Pulverizing the enemy with his bulk body, Bedrock is the muscle you want and need! A nod to one of our favorite strongmen, this figure is solid and has a lot of heart. Get your copy at the Ages 3 and Up/Toy Dojo booth at TFcon in Reston this weekend. Available in limited quantities, the cost of this exclusive will be $110 USD while supplies last.

Bedrock is obviously based on everyone’s favorite dumb lug from Transformers Prime. He does have an appearance in the IDW continuity (which most of the MMC figures are from), but I couldn’t find an image that matched this model. I believe it’s just a nice homage.

Next up are the G2 homages, which have started to become a staple of TFcon.

TFcon sponsor Ages Three and Up is proud to announce this year’s first TFcon DC 2019 exclusive Ocular Max PS-01R Sphinx Regenesis. The Ocular Max Regenesis Series are characters REBORN with vibrant colors and nostalgia of an era where neon, fluorescence, and pastels ruled style. Inspired by a second generation of toys, this figure is based on never released concepts. Designed by Bo2country and produced in cooperation with Toy Dojo and Ocular Max, this figure will come packaged in a beautiful nostalgic clamshell and be available in limited quantities! Get your copy at the Ages Three and Up booth at TFcon DC 2019. The cost of this exclusive will be $110 USD while supplies last.

Now, this Sphinx is pretty neat. G2 Mirage was never made, but they did have concept art of the figure.

The figure obviously never came out, so it’s nice that we finally get some type of G2 Mirage in plastic glory.

The Chosen Prime shows off their TFCon exclusive! The Chosen Prime would like to present our 2019 TFcon USA Exclusive of Planet X Vulcun in G2 Colors! This will limited to just 120 pieces at the show at a price of $140/USD each. Be one of the few to own this stunning G2 blue variant of one of Planet X’s finest October 25 – 27 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Reston Virginia!

G2 Grimlock came in three colors: traditional grey, teal, and blue. There was also this weird tiger stripe version that never made it past concept. Here’s hoping that’s the next color scheme.

Now, we also got a “secret” exclusive figure. Sphinx received one more recolor in black and gold with an homage to the pharaohs of old.

TFcon sponsor Ages Three and Up is proud to announce the surprise TFcon DC 2019 exclusive Ocular Max Perfection Series PS01P Pharaoh. Happy Halloween folks! The king of the mummies has arrived. In keeping with the tradition of terror versions of our favorite figures, this pharaoh was forged to rule them all! Packaged in a regal and specially designed sarcophagus so that you can raise this king from stasis yourself. Get your copy at the Ages Three and Up booth at TFcon in Reston this weekend. Available in limited quantities. The cost of this exclusive will be $110 USD while supplies last.

I almost got this figure. The box is the selling point for me. It’s just such a neat little nod. And…the whole “secret” thing got me a little more excited than it should have.

For those that weren’t able to get TFcon DC 2019 Exclusives for Mastermind Creations / Ocular Max figures, Planet Steel Express has them up for pre-order.

Now, the other big…or huge… thing to come out of TFcon was…

Fanstoys is making a Fortress F’N Maximus. Third Party Fortress Maximus. Twice as big as TR Fort Max. Bigger than Unicron. This is what made waves form the convention.

Cerebros is supposed to be the size of their other headmasters (Weirdwolf and Mindwipe). That’s…amazing.

Now, it’s Fanstoys, so we probably won’t see this until 2044, but I’m in. 60 year old Mike needs something to look forward to!

Fans Hobby posted the slides from the 3P panel. On display are their versions of Minerva, Thunderclash, Godbomber, and God Ginrai! Check out FANS HOBBY coming product information at TFcon DC 2019 Third Party panel, enjoy!

We also saw the first full color reveals for X Transbots’ Monolith (not Menasor) in G1 and G2 color schemes.

You know damn well I’ll have that G2 Menasor on my mantle next to the originals (sealed in AFA graded cases in case you Primates forgot)!

The last big piece of news is really regarding the next TFcon. Sadly, it will not be on the West Coast in the Spring, but in Orlando.

Hmmm…who’s up for a Universal Studios trip?

‘Till next convention,

Kaye
