DC Comics Universe and Nightwing Annual #2 Spoilers and Review follows.

How Does Batman Family React To Dick Grayson Getting Shot In The Head? How Long Has The Court Of Owls Been Scheming?

This issue bridges the events of Batman #55 over one year ago where Nightwing was shot in the head (full spoilers here) and subsequent amnesia to…

…last month’s Nightwing #65 where Nightwing appears to join the Court of Owls (full spoilers here).

In the immediate aftermath, Batman was more interested in tending to Nightwing than hunting down the shooter KGBeast.

Even Robin tried to get Nightwing to wake up from his coma.

The Batman Family incognito visit Dick Grayson in the hospital and he finally wakes up…

…revealing he knows none of them.

Dick Grayson does have memories of his youth though, but not the last twenty years.

He also wants to be called Richard not Dick as that’s what his mom called him; Batman is angry over Grayson’s amnesia.

Later Batman and Robin try to jar Richard Grayson’s memory by revealing their hero personas to him plus reveal to him he was Nightwing.

Grayson blames his Nightwing persona for his head trauma and that’s all on Batman it seems.

Turns out that in other Haley Circus flasbacks in the issue, young Richard Grayson has been groomed to join the Court of Owls; in modern day the doctor Batman hired to tend to Grayson is continuing that grooming work as she is a member of the Court of Owls too!

What’s next for the Nightwings?

Nightwing #66 hits stores on November 20, 2019.

Will Nightwing become the Court of Owl’s new Talon?

The Pulse:

A thoughtful and relevant annual that ties into the last year of Nightwing comics whether in the pages of his own series or other Batman affiliated books. A touching, dramatic and compelling issue. Not a lot of action in the book, but an entertaining read nonetheless. 7 out of 10.
