Writer Vita Ayala spoke about her new Dawn of X series Children of the Atom with one of my fave artists Bernard Chang at C2E2’s X-Men panel. Here are the highlights.
- Do you like my children? Clearly it is a teen book, and I’m not sure I’m allowed to say what their names are. It is a book that’s near and dear to my heart. I was asked what would you do if you could be an X-Men? I said ‘I’m in my 30s, so really bad on my back.’ They’re youngins though, there knees still work.
Bernard and I have got to tell a story about X-Men fans who become X-Men. the Ultimate X-Men.
They’re really mouthy, sarcastic, zoomers. One of them has a Tik Tok. One of them is a Twitch streamer. I wanted to explore what it would be like to explore contemporary fandom. I wanted to show people would it be like if kids right now could be the X-Men.
Plus, a new Children of the Atom cover and interior pages were unveiled as a teaser preview.
Children of Atom #1 debuts on April 15, 2020.
