It feels very nice to be doing this again!

A couple of new debuts this week:

Rogue Planet – I don’t remember what the solicitation said for this series, or even who is creating it. I remember that something about it drew my eye, all those months ago, so we’ll see if I still feel interested when I get it.

Star Wars: Doctor Aphra – I loved Aphra under Kieron Gillen and Simon Spurrier, so I’m happy to see her coming back, but as the writer is not familiar to me, I have some trepidation. I hope this is good.

I’m also looking forward to new issues of 20XX, Alienated, Farmland, Marauders, and Outer Darkness/Chew.

Dr. Aphra is a welcome return. Also looking forward to Venom #25 and Marauders.

Rogue Planet will be my blind gamble of the week.

Only 3 books this week. Still no Valiant books; weird.

Avengers #33
Hawkman #23
Suicide Squad #5

Still trying to keep up as the shiplists continue to be elusive. Again, books I didn’t see on the list pop up, and books that appear on the list, I have read weeks ago. Good luck trying to keep up, folks! We will continue to do our best to keep our info accurate and up to date.

Doctor Aphra #1 – Marvel actually released this digitally a few weeks ago. Love the character. She’s one of the best things to come from Disney Star Wars (and that is not me hating on Disney Star Wars, I loved all three movies and read and enjoy pretty much all the comics). The new series is off to a strong start!

Avengers #33 – Moon Knight Vs The Avengers? So begins the Age of Khonshu. So fall the Avengers. Eh, why not? My first exposure to Moon Knight was way back when they did a crossover with Amazing Spider-Man in Round Robin: The Sidekick’s Revenge. I have always liked the character since, so I glad to see him getting some exposure here. New Moon Knight series, please?

Amazing Spider-Man #43 – Last issue we got an origin story for Gog, a big monster who used to show up in Spidey books years ago. It was a strange but fun read. This book is supposed to set up some of the big stories in ASM over the next few months. Spencer has been pretty good on Spider-Man, so curious to see where we go from here.

Outer Darkness/ Chew #2 – I had never even heard of John Layman until Fulton wrote about Outer Darkness in one of these columns a while back. Immediately I was pulled in by “demonic mysticism meets Star Trek.” I hadn’t read Chew (also by Layman about a detective with strange digestive powers), but when they did this unexpected crossover, I went back and started reading Chew. I am about halfway through, and it’s fast become one of my favorite Image titles ever. Crossing over these strange books that should have no connection is pure genius.

Batman Beyond #43 – Jurgens’ run on Batman Beyond has been perfect! This book really needs more attention. It is my favorite DC book by far!

Marauders #10 – I have really enjoyed Dawn of X, and even when I fall behind on my other comics, I pretty much was reading all of these titles the day they came out. So it feels like forever since I’ve read a new X-Men comic. Marauders is one of my favorite of the bunch, so glad to see a new issues finally!

OH! And in the DC Digital Dailies, this week we got a new Birds of Prey issue by Gail Simone! She had said that she was only doing one issue, so not sure if the book will have rotating creative teams or if it was just a one and done thing.

Flash #753
He-Man And The Masters Of The Multiverse #6 (Of 6)
Justice League #45
Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers #31
Suicide Squad #5
Supergirl #41
Teen Titans #41
Venom #25
