‘Blade Runner 2029’ Comic in the Works
The December launch will continue the story begun in last year’s ‘Blade Runner 2019’ series.
She’s been on the streets and in the off-world colonies, but now Aahna Ashina is back where she belongs, whether she likes it or not: hunting down rogue Replicants, as Titan Comics and Alcon Media Group unveil Blade Runner 2029 this December.
The new series is a continuation of the Blade Runner 2019 comic book, with creators Michael Green (Blade Runner 2049), Mike Johnson (Supergirl, Star Trek: Countdown), and Andres Guinaldo (Justice League Dark) returning to build upon Ashina’s evolution, as she meets two Replicants with very different agendas — both of whom will have a great impact on her life.
“In this era of the Blade Runner comic, we see Ash becoming more human, which, I think is fascinating,” teased editor David Leach. “The initial idea of this [human] killing machine learning humility and humanity from a bioengineered individual is amazing.”
Titan’s Blade Runner comic books launched in 2019, and are canonical expansions of the franchise launched in 1982’s Blade Runner, overseen by Alcon Media Group, owners of the property. The series focus on Ashina, a Los Angeles-based Blade Runner, hired to find a missing child connected to the Tyrell family — a task that ends up being far more complicated than she imagined.
The first issue of Blade Runner 2029, which will be available Dec. 16, will feature cover artwork from Peach Momoko, John Wick’s Giovanni Valletta, and Blade Runner concept artist Syd Mead. Momoko’s cover can be seen below.
There variant covers too.
