Hawkman takes the dagger out and uses his new-found magical powers (White Lantern life energy perhaps) to…

…summon his mace and steel himself for battle.

He demonstrates his powers again…

…derailing the train and destroying the zombie hoard as…

…a maimed Hath-Set laments the daggers destruction…

…and the fact he wasn’t able to kill the Hawks.

He seemingly kills hmself, but the Hawks know better and…

…soar into their next chapter(s).

Then we get teases of the future with Hath-Set returning a few times it seems in a few different reincarnated forms…

…the Hawks returns to JSA among other groups of super-heroes, but…

…despite no longer being able to reincarnate they…

…the Hawks live long together…

…with a legacy extending into the Legion of Super-Heroes era.

A somber beginning to the issue with an optimistic ending along with amazing art. A bittersweet end. 8 out of 10.
