Marvel Comics & Union #4 Spoilers & Review: Penultimate Issue With Twists, Turns & Treason?!

Spoilers

Marvel Comics and Union #4 Spoilers and Review follows.

Penultimate Issue With Twists…

…Turns and…

…Treason?!

We open with a dramatis personae, storyline catch-up and creators credits pages all rolled in one.

The story however begins 30 years where…

…Selwyn James, the modern day Union’s U.K. government liaison, debuts the Sponge against Britannia who dies earlier in this series.

He was aligned with Doc Croc and therefore a villain, a formidable one it seems, back in the day. Despite this cliffhanger in the past, he somehow doesn’t kill Britannia, as she died in this series. So, is a good guy helping the Union in modern day or a mole ready to betray the team?

In modern day, the Union is presented to the United Kingdom over the airwaves…

…a debut that Doc Croc hacks to threaten the U.K. and the Union.

While the Union ponders…

…Doc Croc and his team attack the Tower of London…

…take out Kelpie and…

…attack the Union starting with their big guns Snakes.

There is even the Last Beefeater who protects the tower, but isn’t on the Union for some reason.

He’s defeated and Skreem, presumably a mind-controlled Choir, does some damage…

…so Doc Croc can collect the Empire Stone, but…

…one of the Union’s allies has it; is he friend or foe as “The Emperor”?

Next up is the series finale in Union #5 out on May 5, 2021.

The Pulse:

I had such high hopes for this series, but this issue’s story was plodding yet the characters were intriguing. Interior art was so-so, but the covers were ok. 4.5 out of 10.
