AfterShock Comics and Project Patron #1 Spoilers and Review follows.

Much More Than A New Take On The Death and Return Of Superman!

Twists, Turns and Teases!

We open with a creators credits page, but it’s Aaron Lopresti not Tony Harris who rendered the variant cover.

There is a cool ad that is a riff on the Death and Return of Superman in the form of a Blu-Ray telling how Patron fought Woe, the Doomsday analogue, 30 years ago and seemingly lived to tell the tale.

Patron is a do-gooder, but…

…he’s not his own, but a sophisticated robot aka Reploid manned by Commander Conrad Kone under orders by the United Nations.

So, the actual Patron did die at the hands of Woe 30 years ago; we then meet the rest of the team including the pilot Nadia Ketz.

Plus he muscle named Davin Deir…

…the successor named Lena Yvonne and…

…the new guy Moro Ignatz.

However, he’s a traitor reporting that to take down this team, you go after the Commander and the rest the team will atrophy.

The book ends with what seemed like a successful mission of Patron, but…

…who crashes quite literally because…

…his pilot Commander Conrad Kone has been killed?!

The Pulse:

Not sure what I was expecting, but while the story started off like a riff on the Death and Return of Superman, it quickly went in an interesting new direction. Decent art too. 7.5 out of 10.
