Marvel Comics & Avengers #44 Spoilers & Review: Bridging From Enter The Phoenix To King In Black To Heroes Reborn!

Spoilers

Marvel Comics and Avengers #44 Spoilers and Review follows.

Bridging From…

…Enter The Phoenix To…

…King In Black To…

…Heroes Reborn!

We open with a storyline catch-up and creators credits page.

We then get right into the Context of Champions to see who will be the new Phoenix host beginning with Captain America vs. Black Panther.

Then Red Widow vs. Shanna the She-Devil.

Followed by She-Hulk vs. Namor.

However, they all get take out by someone else hosting the Phoenix and their respective Phoenix powers disappear presumably coalescing around this new host.

Even the original Phoenix host from Avengers 1,000,000 BC purported mother to Thor with Odin senses time is up.

She seemingly joins with the Phoenix Force and…

…empower the one-time Ronin and now Echo as the new Phoenix host.

The X-Men’s Jean Grey, a former Phoenix host, senses this and offers her help to Echo, but is seemingly rebuffed.

The book ends with more questions than answers.

Next up is a King in Black tie-in for Avengers #45, in stores on April 21, 2021, which makes sense once you read the King in Black #5 event finale (full spoilers here).

The Pulse:

Confusing issue, but decent art. We seemed to have ended the contest early as the Phoenix didn’t need to see anymore or something. Nice seeing the Phoenix garb for our heroes. Entertaining issues despite the moments of head scratching. 7 out of 10.
