When Huntress elected to go undercover in Arkham Tower, it was to investigate a place of healing that seemed too good to be true. But what happens when Helena Bertinelli really does need some healing? With Nightwing and Batwoman also on the inside, what began as an undercover mission has turned into a rescue operation as the mysteries of Dr. Wear’s Arkham Tower begin to unravel!

Then, in “House of Gotham” part three, the young boy rescued by Batman has begun his course of treatment at Arkham, so why are the only people showing him kindness those whom the law asserts are criminals? It’s a cycle of violence the Dark Knight has no answer for as Gotham’s most vulnerable struggle to keep their heads above water!

An undercover Batwoman saves Ana Vulsion, a former foe of hers and someone who will prove to play a big role in the fall of Arkham Tower, from a creep with sick intentions.

Batwoman later finds Huntress sedated in a room in the Tower.

Batwoman is escapes, but without her ally.

Arkham Tower may look majestic now, but it won’t be for long as we know from earlier issues.

The Batman Family plan for what’s next as…

…Ana Vulsion may have duping everyone as she hasn’t been taking her meds…

…which her would-be attacker didn’t know till it was too late.

The back-up House of Gotham continues the theme of Gotham City’s fractured mental health wellness programs.

Next week. the milestone Detective Comics #1050; the first comic book to legitimately reach such a feat.

The Pulse:

While the Batman ongoing series has sucked much of the focus of all things Dark Knight for the last several years, this current run of Detective Comics has been as good if not superior over the same timeframe. While I’m not a fan of virtually weekly comics, this Detective Comics one is event based to boot, DC seems to have amped up the wow factor with the new art team on the main story by the the series’ regular writer. I remain intrigued by this look at mental health in Gotham City and its as seedy as you’d expect. I am surprisingly not missing the present-day Batman here as the Batman Family is used rather well in this arc; we did get some Batman in a flashback though. The back up story is finally named correctly as House of Gotham on the cover after the last few issues calling it House of Wayne. An enthralling creative effort this week. 8 out of 10.
