Brock Lesnar Breaks Silence On Stone Cold Steve Austin Walking Out On WWE Over Impromptu Match With The Beast! Plus More Wrestlemania 38 News!

On this past Monday’s post Super Bowl LVI Pat McAfee Show Brock Lesnar as a guest and he touched on his relationship with Steve Austin.

“I got to wrestle [Hulk] Hogan, I got to wrestle The Rock, the Undertaker, Ric Flair [and other icons], but I didn’t get to wrestle Steve [Austin]…

…I understand from a business aspect, at the time, Steve left [in 2002] and didn’t wanna work with me.

And it was probably the right decision for him at the time. I don’t hold a grudge against it at all. Business is business. I had a lot of good mentors coming up in the business.”

The full interview on the Valentine’s Day edition of the Pat McAfee Show can be found below.

Stone Cold Steve Austin had said in the past that the reason he didn’t want to do the match was that it was impromptu with no build-up and that it should be built up culminating in a PPV match. At such a match Austin would have had no concerns helping the then young Lesnar over with a win over the Rattlesnake.  Austin felt his approach was bets for business and all involved.

They had inteactions on WWE TV since Austin retired, but no one-on-one match.

Interestingly, Fightful Select reports that the WWE has approached Austin for one final match at Wrestlemania 38 in Texas. Dave Meltzer further reports that Kevin Owens would be his likely opponent. Makes sense since Owens uses Austin’s finisher (which he got permission to use from him).

Austin’s last match, due to lingering neck issues, was at Wrestlemania XIX (2003) where he did the honors for the Rock.

Looks like Austin and Owens are friendly behind the scenes.

Same goes for Austin and Lesnar.

Stay tuned as the Show of Shows matches get firmed up. What’s confirmed so far is here. That includes Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns for the Smackdown’s WWE Universal Championship.

However, this weekend is the Elimination Chamber PPV and Lesnar hopes to win Raw’s WWE Heavyweight Championship to make his Wrestlemania match title vs. title. The known Elimination Chamber 2022 card is here.
